Most of the family trees I have seen over at Ancestry.com, my main site, has this Joseph Friend (married to Elender "Elon" Mattison) associated with the Swedish Friend line. I've recently been in touch with a family member who's tree is a private tree, where she has a different Friend family connection. According to her information, Joseph Friend was born in Newburyport, Essex, Massachusetts.
So, I'm wondering just why so many, including some at this site, have Joseph Friend descending from the Swedish Frande/Friend line. Things would be far easier to discern, were the multiple marriage/banns registry records of his union with Elender "Elon" Mattison gave a year of birth or even a place. Many marriage records I've come across for others in my tree have at least the spouses year of birth. Some even give the place.
I guess my real question is, what made you connect him to the Swedish family? Family stories; bible records, what? What evidence led you there? Please and thank you, in advance.
